Michael A. Manning, AIF®, MBA
CEO & Co-Founder
Michael is the CEO, President and co-founder of MWM Retirement Solutions. Michael has more than 35 years of experience providing financial planning, wealth management, and asset management advice. He has a wealth of knowledge related to proper investment allocation, retirement planning, portfolio management, estate and income tax minimization, charitable planning, and wealth transfer strategies.
Michael's primary responsibilities include staying current on investment, insurance, and planning strategies; providing counsel to clients and financial advisors at the firm and making sure business operations continue to run smoothly; and keeping an eye on the ever-changing regulatory environment.
Michael resides in Coronado with his wife, Nancy, and son, Myles. Michael loves to travel, run on the beach, boat on the bay, exercise, ride bikes, take his dog Kona on long walks, and spend time with his family and friends.
William B. Corder, AIF®
Bill has 18-plus years of experience in the financial services industry and is securities registered, insurance licensed, and a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®. He is also an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) designee, which represents a thorough knowledge of and ability to apply fiduciary practices. When providing investment advice, Bill acts as a fiduciary in the best interest of his clients and takes pride in his ability to implement prudent policies and procedures. As one of the founders at MWM Retirement Solutions, his role is to organize, formalize, and implement each client’s fiduciary process and monitor how it affects each retirement plan.
Bill resides in Coronado with his wife, Brandy, and their two children, Wyatt and Vivian. Bill leads an active life and enjoys biking, golfing, kayaking, working out at the gym, and taking his kids to the beach. Bill enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and reading and is an avid sports fan.
Director of Retirement Plan Services
Melissa has 23-plus years of experience in the financial services industry and has spent the past 13 years specializing in corporate retirement plans. Melissa is securities registered, insurance licensed, and a registered representative and investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®.
At MWM Retirement Solutions, Melissa works with our corporate retirement clients to help provide fiduciary support, analyze plan design, and evaluate investment costs. In addition, she provides solutions to plan sponsors that can help optimize participant outcomes and provides educational resources.
Prior to joining MWM Retirement Solutions, Melissa was vice president of strategic relationship management in San Diego and Hawaii for John Hancock Retirement Plan Services. In this role, she partnered with financial representatives and plan sponsors to promote plan growth and improve overall plan health. This included initiatives to increase participation and deferrals, boost awareness of basic 401(k) benefits, and assist business owners with understanding and meeting fiduciary obligations.
A native San Diegan, Melissa resides in Chula Vista with her husband, Luis; their two children, Mason and Giuliana; and a dog named Parker. Melissa loves to travel and spend time with her family, and she enjoys cooking and entertaining.
Heather Nicholas, CLTC
Heather (Gappy) Nicholas has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry. She holds the Certified in Long-Term Care® (CLTC®) designation, which focuses on the profession of long-term care planning. Prior to joining MWM Retirement Solutions, Heather worked as a regional director for OneAmerica Financial Partners for 12 years and as a financial advisor with UnionBanc Investment Services and WM Financial Services for 7 years. Her role at OneAmerica involved consulting, educating, and training financial professionals, including financial planners, financial advisors, and insurance agents, on how to implement long-term care planning and asset-based LTC solutions into their business. She participated in public speaking engagements to educate clients on the importance of a comprehensive plan that included long-term care planning. After many years of traveling as a regional director, Heather has returned to her passion for working with individuals and their families as a wealth advisor, joining the MWM Retirement Solutions team in San Diego. She is an investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®.
Heather is a driven financial professional who builds strong, trusting relationships with the clients she serves. She is dedicated to helping people create plans to secure their financial and retirement goals and works with her clients to implement the strategies to meet their goals and maintain their lifestyle. She is an advocate of not only building wealth but protecting the wealth and legacy for their family.
Heather was born and raised in San Diego and now resides in Scripps Ranch with her husband, two sons, and daughter. Her husband is a U.S. Navy veteran and naval aviator now working in the private sector. She volunteers as a coach and team manager for her children’s various sports teams. She enjoys yoga, working out, snowboarding, hiking, country music, and family time. She speaks Chaldean, a dialect of the Arabic language, and has a BS in business administration with an emphasis in finance from San Diego State University.
Tina E. Williams
Director of Operations
Tina has worked in the financial services industry for more than 20 years. She initially worked at Moody’s Investors Service and subsequently worked for an investment bank in Columbus, Ohio. While at those firms, she worked in corporate credit analysis, commercial real estate finance, and affordable housing (LIHTC). At MWM Retirement Solutions, she primarily assists advisors with managing their client relationships.
Tina has lived in Coronado with her husband, Rob, and their three children since 2007. She enjoys all the outdoor activities available in San Diego and traveling to her hometown of NYC since she is an avid theater enthusiast. Tina volunteers with PAWs of Coronado, where she fosters abandoned kittens until they can be placed in permanent homes. She received her BA from Smith College and her master's from Columbia University’s School of International & Public Affairs.
Marketing and Project Coordinator
A current student at the University of Southern California, Myles handles marketing efforts and day-to-day projects for MWM Retirement Solutions. He offers a fresh perspective on business decisions and brings enthusiasm and a strong work ethic to the office.
Myles is pursuing a business administration degree at USC and hopes to later focus in on finance. Myles enjoys working out, surfing, making short films, and spending time with family and friends.
